Fairmont High School grad Conner Tordsen, a senior at Dakota State University in Madison, South Dakota, won the NAIA National Championship in the discus throw on Thursday. Conner’s first attempt of the competition sailed 177 feet, 7 inches, which was not bested by any other competitor. The second place throw was 2 feet, 3  The meet was held at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marian, Indiana.

Conner also placed fourth in the hammer throw event with a throw of 196 feet, 8 inches.

Conner is the son of Jamie and April Tordsen. His younger brother Sawyer won the state championship in the discus last year for the Fairmont Cardinals.
