Schmeeckle Foundation Awards $196,929 in Grants

The Schmeeckle Foundation recently approved grants totaling $196,929 for community enhancement projects in Martin County, Minnesota.
These grants support the Schmeeckle Foundation’s three core focus areas: early childhood care and education, serving the disabled and elderly, and promoting the arts. The Schmeeckle Foundation is a private family foundation serving Martin County, Minnesota. Its mission is to carry on the legacy of long-time Martin County resident, Juanita Ellen (Teubner) Schmeeckle, to provide grants for the betterment of Martin County.
“The Schmeeckle Foundation Grants are designed to support projects which are innovative, involve collaboration, and achieve sustainable, measurable results.” say the Schmeeckle Foundation Trustees. Grants are reviewed by the four trustees with assistance from the Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation. Grants are awarded based on their likelihood to create measurable change within the Foundation’s three core focus areas. This round of grantees includes:
$6,000 to CREST for an “Out and About” project.
$1,233 to Fairmont City Band for Music Stand Replacement.
$34,546 to Fairmont Opera House for Enhancing the Sound Experience for Fairmont Opera House.
$120,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Martin and Faribault Counties for the project of Habitat for Humanity and the DNR “Saving Habitats Together.”
$20,000 to the Sherburn Park Committee for Handicapped Accessible Park Equipment.
$15,150 to Southern Minnesota Initiative Foundation as fiscal agent for “Home Delivery of Meals and Healthcare to Elderly Residents of Martin County” in care of Manna Health, Dr. Tim Bachenberg, Medical Director, and Pastor Russell Reimers, Board Chairman.
Applications for the next grant period are due September 30, 2021.
