The Martin County Board took a final look at the proposed 2020 budget at Tuesday’s meeting, the final one before adopting it at the next meeting on Dec. 17. The board is now looking at a 4.91 % increase in the levy for next year that would be an $800,743.00 increase.
Martin County Commissioners heard from Planning and Zoning official Pam Flitter on Tuesday during a public hearing to consider a proposed 2020 fee schedule for her department. Commissioners ultimately approved the proposal, with a minor adjustment to a proposed fee for zoning permits. The board ultimately approved the fee schedule, with the exception of only increasing the zoning permit fee to $150 instead of $175.
The board also approved prosecution contracts between the Martin County Attorney’s office and the cities of Trimont, Ceylon, Sherburn-Welcome and Granada at Tuesday’s meeting.
Commissioners approved a request from the Martin County Humane Society for an allocation of $10,000 toward the tiling and fencing installation project at the animal shelter.
