– The Minnesota Grocers Association announced Representative Bob
Gunther (R-Fairmont) as a 2019 Hero of the Food Industry. Gunther received the honor for his
leadership in advancing the food industry’s priorities during the 2019 Minnesota Legislative Session.
“Representative Gunther has never forgotten his grocer roots and has always brought his main street
Minnesota common sense to St. Paul to promote legislation that creates jobs and careers for his
constituents. Last legislative session, he once again displayed outstanding commitment in advocating
for policies that spur economic activity and put more money back in the pockets of hardworking
Minnesotans. He truly is a champion of a free marketplace, not placing undue burdens on local
business, and helping our neighbors keep their shopping baskets full,” said Jamie Pfuhl, President of the
Minnesota Grocers Association. “This award is a testament to his vision, leadership, and support of the
entire industry from farm to fork.”
“Minnesota has a diverse economy and the food industry is an important part in creating a vibrant
economy. Our community is blessed to have an abundant network of job creators to the industry, which
provides one out of every twenty jobs in the state,” said Gunther. “I strongly support policies that create
jobs and allow families to invest in their community. I am honored to receive this award from the
Minnesota Grocers Association. I will continue to advocate for consumers, main street Minnesota
businesses, and all Minnesotans.”
