SATURDAY NOVEMBER 9TH IS POPPY DAY. THE OCCASION HAS BEEN PROCLAIMED BY FAIRMONT MAYOR DEB FOSTER WHICH STATES THAT “THE AMERICAN LEGION POST 36 OF FAIRMONT AND IT’S WOMEN’S AUXILIARY HAVE ADOPTED THE POPPY AS THEIR COMMEMORATIVE SYMBOL AND THAT THE MEMORIAL POPPY ASSEMBLED BY DISABLED VETERANS,PAYS RESPECTFUL TRIBUTE TO THOSE KILLED IN WAR, AND ALSO BENEFITS LIVING VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES AND PUBLIC DONATIONS FOR POPPIES FUND REHABILITATION PROGRAMS WITHIN EACH LOCAL COMMUNITY THAT BENEFIT VETERANS,THEIR FAMILIES AND ULTIMATELY OUR STATE AND NATION.”

THEREFORE FAIRMONT MAYOR DEB FOSTER HAS PROCLAIMED SATURDAY NOVEMBER 9TH TO BE POPPY DAY, AND FURTHER, URGES ALL CITIZENS TO WEAR A MEMORIAL POPPY AS A SYMBOL OF THEIR DEEP APPRECIATION FOR THE SERVICES RENDERED BY OUR NATIONS VETERANS.
