Three people are injured in a three-vehicle chain-reaction crash on Highway 22 at Highway 14 in Mankato Saturday afternoon.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a Ford Explorer, Dodge Ram and Toyota Corolla were all north-bound on Highway 22 in the left lane at Highway 14 just after 5:00 Saturday. A vehicle up ahead of them was changing lanes from left to right, causing the other vehicles in the left lane to hit their brakes and slow down. The Ford Explorer rear ended the Dodge Ram which then rear ended the Toyota Corolla.

The State Patrol says the Explorer, driven by 33 Year Old Jase Robert Guetter of Mankato rear-ended the truck, driven by 59 Year Old Michael Allen Thompson of Fairmont, which rear-ended the Toyota, driven by 16 year old Jayda Marie Schmidt of Vernon Center.

Thompson and Schmidt were taken to Mayo Mankato with what are described as non-life-threatening injuries, as was a passenger in the truck 25 year old Thane Adam Thompson of Fairmont.

Guetter and two passengers in the Corolla reported no injuries. The State Patrol says all six were wearing seat belts.

A TRIMONT COUPLE WAS INVOLVED IN A TWO VEHICLE CRASH ON FRIDAY ON HIGHWAY 60 IN WATONWAN COUNTY. ABOUT 7 P.M. A VAN DRIVEN BY 80 YEAR-OLD RUTH ANN HALER OF ST. JAMES WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN OFF THE HIGHWAY WHEN SHE WAS STRUCK BY A VAN DRIVEN BY 68 YEAR-OLD DEAN SINN OF TRIMONT. A PASSENGER, 68 YEAR OLD CYNTHIA SINN WAS INJURED. SHE AND RUTH HALER, THE OTHER DRIVER, WERE TAKEN TO MAYO CLINIC HEALTH SYSTEM IN ST. JAMES FOR TREATMENT OF NON-LIFE THREATENING INJURIES ACCORDING TO THE STATE PATROL REPORT. DEAN SINN SUFFERED NO APPARENT INJURY.
