The 22nd annual Martin County Blue Ribbon Pork Cook Off was held Wednesday night at the Martin County Fair. Green Mill Restaurant of Fairmont won first place in the connoisseur division with a German pork spaetzle topped with sundried tomato pesto and garnished with a pumpernickel crumble. Voters in Truman approved to abolish the city’s Public Utilities Commission Tuesday. There were 125 votes in favor of the abolition, while 40 votes were against the measure. The Truman City Council decided in late May to put the fate of the PUC in the hands of voters. With the three-member PUC abolished, the city council will assume its responsibilities. Two adult males face felony charges after two BB-gun related incidents, including an adult male who was shot while riding his bicycle. The Fairmont City Council postponed a vote Monday to update the city’s record retention and data practices policy after three council members wanted a summary of any major changes from existing policy. The policy governs procedures to handle information requests from private citizens. Flaherty & Hood, the city’s interim legal counsel, requested the policy update after handling several information requests for the city.
