Minnesota Department of Health officials on Sunday reported 1,077 new cases of the coronavirus, increasing the total to 96,734 cases since the pandemic began.
Officials confirmed four additional deaths in the last day, including one person who lived in a long-term care center. The death toll stands at 2,008 people, including 1,445 residents of nursing homes or similar facilities.
The update shows that 50 patients were newly admitted to hospitals, compared with 52 on Saturday. There have been 7,493 people hospitalized since the start of the pandemic, including 2,095 people who have wound up in intensive care units.

Iowa health officials reported Sunday the state confirmed 804 more COVID-19 cases and four new deaths.
The new numbers raise the state’s totals since the coronavirus pandemic began to 86,229 confirmed cases and 1,315 COVID-19 deaths.
The state said its numbers during the weekend added about 27,000 antigen test results from long-term care facilities. Antigen tests produce results more rapidly than other tests.
The antigen tests were conducted at long-term care facilities in September. Of the nearly 27,000 antigen test results included in the update, about 300 were positive for the virus.
The percentage of tests that were positive was 11.1% on Sunday.
