It’s Day Four of Minnesota’s Other Big Fair and its Senior Citizen day at the fair. Anyone 62 and over gets into the fair for half price. Midway opens up at 1:00 today and has unlimited rides for $27 from 1:00 to 5:00. Timberworks Lumberjack Shows are at 2:00, 4:00 and 6:00 today. There are many 4H and FFA shows happening today and registration for the kids tractor pedal pull happens at 4:00 outside the Fair Office. TRUMAN — Truman Ambulance has received a $15,000 grant from the Fairmont Community Hospital Foundation to purchase a specialized bariatric cot, one of the few available in southern Minnesota. The ramp and winch system can safely handle patients weighing up to 1,600 pounds and is designed to reduce lifting and improve safety for both patients and emergency personnel. The cot has been in service for about a month. Because similar equipment is rare in the region, Truman Ambulance is also available for requests from surrounding emergency services. MANKATO — A Shakopee man charged in connection with the May murder of Tyson Goodsell is now facing an additional felony charge. Ahmed Fuad Mohamud is charged with felony threats of violence after allegedly  threatening to kill a person during monitored and recorded jail phone calls. According to the criminal complaint, Mohamud allegedly made repeated threats during a three-way phone call on July 14, telling the victim he would kill him, even if it took years before he was released from jail. FAIRMONT — The Martin County Jail has been recognized as one of just 20 employers in Minnesota to receive an Above and Beyond Award from Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. The award recognizes employers who provide support to National Guard and Reserve members beyond what is legally required. The 17-member staff currently includes two full-time correctional deputies serving in the Guard or Reserves. The jail was then selected from more than 230 eligible Minnesota employers. 

(Pilot Grove) Crews responded to a report of an aircraft that had crashed near Pilot Grove yesterday afternoon. The aircraft was a small two seat fixed wing plan and it came to rest upside down in a bean field. Two pilots were involved and one was transported for evaluation. The aircraft sustained significant damage in the crash but did not catch on fire. Blue Earth, Elmore and Fairmont fire departments as well as police and EMS all assisted at the scene.

FAIRMONT — Windom Area Health is preparing to open a new specialty clinic in Fairmont this fall. The clinic will occupy eight rooms in the Victoria State Crossing Building, in the space most recently used by Center for Specialty Care. The opening will happen in phases, beginning with general surgery, OB-GYN and urology services. Future plans include adding primary and acute care, lab and imaging services, extended clinic hours and eventually a surgery center. FAIRMONT — A Truman man is facing two gross misdemeanor DWI charges following separate incidents in Fairmont this summer. Forty-two-year-old Adam Thomas Kneeland is accused of driving while impaired by nitrous oxide on June 12th and again on July 28th. According to court complaints, police were called both times after receiving reports of a man inhaling nitrous oxide while sitting in a vehicle. Officers say they found frosted nitrous oxide canisters in the vehicle during both incidents and observed signs of impairment. FAIRMONT — A Fairmont man is facing felony burglary and domestic assault charges following two alleged disturbances at the same residence earlier this month. Twenty-six-year-old Tanner Riley Klug is accused of grabbing a woman's forearm and shoving her to the ground during an initial incident. Police were called back to the home the following day after Klug allegedly forced his way through a locked door, damaging the door frame. Once inside, he is also accused of pushing another person and making threatening statements. The complaint also alleges that two people had received threatening messages from Klug.
