Minnesota Health Officials reported 4,900 new coronavirus cases and 56 more deaths on Wednesday.
According the Minnesota Department of Health 2,754 people have died because of the virus. A total of 1,898 of those deaths have occurred in long term care facilities.
A total of 194,570 cases have been confirmed in the state since the pandemic began in March. Of those, 157,164 people no longer need to self isolate.
The COVID-19 pandemic surged to new highs in the state of Iowa on Wednesday with a record number of patients hospitalized, 26 more deaths and 4,764 additional positive tests reported.
There are currently 1,190 Iowans hospitalized who have tested positive for the virus, a record high and 210 of those patients are in the ICU, also an all time high.
The 4,764 new cases push the statewide total to 166,021 Iowans who have tested positive, with 104,214 currently listed as recovered from the virus.
The 26 additional deaths has increased the statewide death total to 1,898. Of those who have died, 905 were residents of long term care facilities. There are currently outbreaks at 101 long term care facilities in the state.
