The Fairmont Park Board has taken the first step toward dedicating a previously unnamed city-owned green space in memory of a long-time Fairmont businessman. On Tuesday, the board unanimously approved naming a park area at Shoreacres Drive, Summit Drive and Woodland Avenue after Richard S. Bradley who created what is now known as Avery Weigh-Tronix , a subsidiary of Illinois Tool Works, a fortune 200 company , in Fairmont in 1971. The company is planning a 50th Anniversary of the company’s official start. The recommendation will now go to the Fairmont City Council for final approval.
