Representative Bob Gunther (R-Fairmont) announced his endorsement of Republican House candidate Bjorn Olson to become the next Representative for House District 23A.
After serving the district for more than 25 years, Gunther announced his plans to retire in December 2019. The Republican endorsing convention to determine his replacement was held on May 19, during which Olson defeated two others to receive the party’s endorsement. Despite an earlier pledge to abide by the Republican Party’s endorsement, one of the candidates who failed to receive the endorsement is now forcing the nomination to a primary election on August 11th.
Gunther is a strong believer in the party’s endorsing process and officially endorsed Bjorn Olson on June 20th.
“I am excited to endorse Bjorn Olson to be the next representative for our district,” Gunther said. “The next representative will need to be a fighter – especially considering the challenges facing the state and district due to the COVID-19 pandemic and projected state budget deficit. As a veteran myself, I’m impressed by the leadership of Bjorn Olson, and I know he will do a great job representing our district at the Capitol.”
