ARMSTRONG, Iowa (AP) — A former Armstrong police officer has been charged with dozens of crimes, making him the latest in a string of former town officials to face criminal charges in the last 14 months in a wide-reaching corruption case. Former Armstrong officer Benjamin Scheevel was charged earlier this month with 84 felony and misdemeanor counts — some dating back to 2016, radio station KILR reported. The counts include stalking, involving at least two women, non-felonious misconduct in office, assault and unauthorized dissemination of criminal history data. A one-car accident sent a Truman woman to the hospital early Saturday, April 2nd. According to a report from the Martin County Sheriff's Department, a vehicle driven by Venus Ranay Christian, 44, of Truman, went off the roadway as it approached the intersection of County Road 39 and County Road 50 west of Truman. The vehicle hit a field approach, deploying all the airbags. The woman was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System Fairmont with what were suspected to be minor injuries. The driver was the lone occupant and wearing a seat belt according to the report.

The Fairmont Area School Board met in regular session on Tuesday evening. The board heard a presentation from Sara Gudahl, director of the spring play, and students who will be performing roles in the comedy "The Internet Is A Distract-Oh Look, A Kitten!" which is scheduled to be performed on April 9th and 10th. The Fairmont Teacher of the Year, Heather Stromberg, was recognized as well. Five people were injured after a three-vehicle crash in Faribault County involving a van, a semi and a Blue Earth Fire Truck. According to the State Patrol, the crash happened yesterday after 2 a.m. They say a semi, driven by 41-year-old Solomon Sagot was traveling eastbound on Interstate 90 near Jo Davies Township when it crashed into a van, driven by 29-year-old Adam Beckett of California and a Blue Earth Fire Truck, driven by 46-year-old Corey Survis on Blue Earth. Five people within the three vehicles suffered non-life threatening injuries.
