Martin County Humane Society will be holding their annual Walk For Animals fundraiser this Sunday, September 12 at Cedar Creek Park in Fairmont. The walk will be from 2 to 3 p.m. with two different lengths to walk offered. You are welcome to walk with or without your dog. After the walk, and new to this year's event, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. there will be a family Carnival with a bouncy house and games offered.

Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has issued a disaster proclamation for Kossuth, Emmet, Lyon, and Palo Alto counties as the result of recent severe weather. It allows state resources to be utilized to respond to and recover from recent storms and activates the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program for qualifying residents, along with the Disaster Case Management Program. Fairmont, Minnesota – The city of Fairmont’s official population is 10,487, according to the 2020 decennial census conducted by the United States Census Bureau. The census is taken every ten years and provides vital statistics data for communities and their economies. It was estimated in 2019 that Fairmont’s population would decrease by about six percent. Rosen, Krahmer & Mayo Commit Funding to Community Center


FAIRMONT, Minn. — The Rosen Family, Krahmer Family and Mayo Clinic Health System in Fairmont have partnered to pledge $4.5 million in initial private funding to kick off the capital campaign for the construction and operation of the proposed Fairmont Area Community Center. Trimont woman injured in one-vehicle accident


Friday evening a one vehicle accident on Highway 4 in Fox Lake Township in Martin County sent a Trimont woman to the hospital. According to the report from the Minnesota State Patrol, 58 year-old Audrey Kay Yeske of Trimont was injured when the 2019 Freightliner Semi she was driving southbound left the roadway, entered the ditch and rolled. Yeske was transported to Mayo Clinic Health System Fairmont with what the report described as non-life threatening injuries. The Amber Lake boat ramp and parking lot will be closed beginning Friday, August 13th and will remain closed during construction activities. The city has hired a contractor to reconstruct the existing boat ramp and parking lot as part of the 2021 improvement projects. The anticipated completion date is mid-September. Two killed in Jackson County accident


Two people were killed in a pickup vs. semi collision near Alpha Monday afternoon. Mitchell Jarmer, 24, of Westbrook, Minnesota and Jacob Peterson, 26, of Dovray, Minnesota were both pronounced dead at the scene of the crash, which took place at around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of County Roads 29 and 34 north of Alpha. A collision in Fairmont between a Martin County Sheriff's squad car and another vehicle resulted in injuries Tuesday afternoon. According to a report from the Minnesota State Patrol, a Martin County Sheriff's Office squad driven by 23 year-old Luis Fernando Figueroa of Fairmont was traveling eastbound on Blue Earth Avenue with emergency lights activated when it collided with a Chevy Equinox that was northbound on State Street.
